Frequently Asked Question
Isn't my child getting enough art time in school?
Unfortunately, more and more schools are encouraging young children to move away from free expression during various art activities such as scribbling and painting. These same schools are moving toward tracing and coloring between the lines techniques.
The importance of scribbling is undervalued. Children who engage in plenty of scribbling at a young age develop better fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creative confidence which is all needed in later schooling.
As children grow, they start to understand that what they create has a meaning and depending on what symbols they utilize in their pictures, these meaning may change. Understanding symbolic representation helps children grasp that letters and numbers signify something. Art and writing involve making symbols.
Why should I enroll my child in the Kultural Kids creative arts programs?
Kultural Kids creative arts programs are design to create an environment where children feel comfortable and are allowed to express themselves through art. We realize that it is not the product that is important, it is the process. In our programs:
- Children are given plenty of time to explore art materials and express themselves through art and language
- Help children explore their emotions more deeply by varying the type and color of paints, tools provided, textured used, etc. This also allows to develop communication skills and grasp a deeper understanding of her or his words
- Invite children to discuss their work, therefore, strengthening a better connection between pictures and words
- Introduce children to the work of various artists
Why is art considered to be so important in a child's life?
Art is a language. Through out time, art has been one of the most effective ways to express ideas and feelings. Art can be considered to be our first language. Children draw and paint before they learn to read and write. We can consider their pictures to be like words that tell us a story and this marks an essential step for literacy.
It is essential to make an effort to understand the importance behind what we see as scribbles, random lines, and blobs. All of these marks represent what children see, feel, and tell us. Children are able to “read” these important marks to us, this can be considered to be their first step toward reading exposure.

Will learning a second language affect my child's ability to learn English?
No, on the contrary, research shows that learning a second language helps children do better with their native tongue. It helps them acquire and recognize unique sounds, accents, intonations, and more. In addition, children that are exposed to a second language tend to do better in various academic subjects.
How many children do you have per class?
Depending on the program that you are interested, class size will vary. Our main focus is your child's learning. We want to provide a good environment in order to provide the best quality of education possible. Therefore, our classes are small so each instructor can focus on each child individually during class.
In our foreign language programs, we take up to eight students per class. Parents & Tots classes only have six children per class. In our creativity arts programs, we take up to six students per class. Parents & Tots classes only have five children per class.
How long will it take for my child to learn a foreign language?
The first aspect to consider is that every child is different and s/he learns at a different rate. Most children react very quickly to various requests during our foreign language programs. Within the first four weeks, most children feel comfortable enough to react spontaneously to our activities and through body language they start to show comprehension of the foreign language and its demands.
On average, after five to six months, most children show much understanding of the foreign language and many are also able to express themselves in the foreign language. In our experience, after two years of being exposed to our foreign language programs, children could start to show spontaneous speech and mayor comprehension of the foreign language. The earlier children are exposed to foreign la

Are your programs just more schooling?
No! Our programs are presented to children in a fun way providing a more natural environment for children to learn. Whether your child is enrolled in our creative arts program or our foreign language program, all activities are designed to keep children engaged in a fun and safe environment without even noticing that they are learning. Through games, stories, imaginative play, and more, an environment is created which encourages children to be creative and continue to grow.
How can you teach foreign language to young children?
At Kultural Kids we teach foreign language using a technique called full immersion. Using full immersion, we expose children to a fun environment where they learn the foreign language just like they did their native tongue. As soon as the child walks into our classrooms, the native tongue is left behind and only to targeted foreign language is used. After all, full immersion is the way all of us learned our first language.
Full immersion is the best technique to grasp a second language quickly and almost effortlessly. Our style allows children to have fun and enjoy themselves while rapidly learning the targeted foreign language.
